BELGIAN MALINOIS 1
I own a Belgian Malinois. I have owned a Belgian Malinois for 30 plus years. There were many over the years. One thing they all had were teeth. Since Malinois for Police and sport work are bred to bite they can use those teeth, Some more than others. That is not a bad thing if that is the purpose of the dog. Then you have those that say they are gentile and sweet. By a year that may change. Over the years I have seen drastic changes on Malinois at certain ages, some do some don't.
Malinois are by far the elite dog although they are kind of when you know how to raise the breed. Sometimes I can feel my dogs power and know what she is capable of. And for her it is all how she wants to play. Yep. I know this so we do things to play and she likes to play hard. Malinois need an outlet, even if they are good in a home, they still need that interaction.
There are A to Z types of Malinois. Fear, Brave, Submissive, Pushy, Compliant, Non-compliant and so many more. Personalities can be different in so many that when someone sees a compliant Malinois they think they all are. Or a Non-compliant Malinois who has had tons of training. Stay away from breeders who just want to breed a Belgian Malinois without reason or purpose. I was her breeder and I choose this puppy. My puppy was the worst as she was a runner. I do not mean to run away, she likes to spread out and run large circles farther away than most dogs. She comes back but she needs room because just because that is part of her genetics. I noticed this at 5 weeks old. She had no footing problems and loved to climb. She was independent which was good but can be bad. When a friend saw her at 7 or 8 weeks he said she was way too independent and did not care how far away she was from us. This has carried on through life although she is very attached to me and always comes back once her circle is made. I have taught her boundaries so she can move around but stay within. She likes to be on a mission and doing something. Still she can somewhat chill in the house but sometimes she brings me toys. Malinois do this ya know.
Read up on this breed and be sure to spend the time to make sure the pup you are looking at is for you. There are many types of Malinois. Do the research to find what is good for you. There are many types of breeders also. Ask around and watch their facebook on their dogs. I am seeing far too many Malinois and Dutch Shepherds being surrendered to facebook pages, rescues and shelters. Happy Malinois training.

I have read a news and watched a video about Belgian Malinois behavior. Although it's somehow negative, I still believe that the dog's behavior will always depend on its owner. I am also an owner of 5 Shih-Tzu breed dog. Compare to Malinois, Shih-Tzu is a toy dog and does not require good training. But I admire owner or breeder who can handle a Malinois cause I know that's it's not that easy. The important thing to consider when owning a dog is the responsibility to handle their behavior as they grow.
